Zero Patience
Hey loves! Guess what? It’s that time again. Another exclusive rant coming your way. This week we’re discussing Zero Patience. Which is exactly what I have lately. I swear it felt like my shift last night lasted a whole eight hours and I only worked four! Here is a quick back story for those of you who are not a normal Retail Rant reader. I work two jobs, a full time and a part time, and in my not so spare time I maintain this amazing blog. 💖💕💖💞

Well in working these two jobs basically everyday this week, you kinda hit your breaking point where EVERYTHING pisses you off. I guess you can say Wednesday was that day for me, and it hit hard. On top of the fact that it was only me and one other associate that night, we also had a store full of customers and the floor looked a hot mess.
It would be sooo accurate if you had came into our store and said it looked like a hurricane came through, because it did! Hurricane Customers! We get those hurricanes frequently so please beware. Naturally since we had so many customers in the store I have more than enough rants to carry on for a legit week, but I won’t do that to you tuh-day. I’ll just give you a couple.
Customer #1
Since it was just the two of us, I took it upon myself to make sure that the fitting rooms stay cleared out. Nothing like a fitting room full of tried on clothes right? Well, while in the process of cleaning out the fitting room one of the customers stepped out to ask for another size. No big deal right? WRONG! 🤦🏾♀️
The Conversation
Customer: Excuse me ma’am can I get this in a medium?
Me: (Thoughts to myself – Ma’am, I know you know that you got that damn shirt from the clearance section. Everybody knows whatever is out there is all we have. 🙄 But with a smile.) I will check for you. 😬
I legit head out of the fitting room to go through the clearance section to see if I could find the shirt in a medium as requested. While in the process of doing so I am distracted by how disrespectful some of our customers are. Like really, you’re going to stuff a whole pile of shirts in the rack of perfectly hung clothes? The amount of time it took you to stuff the shirts into the rack you could have very well hung them back up! But that’s neither here nor there.
Me: Ma’am the only thing we have left is small’s.
Customer: Oh ok, well can I see that shirt down there?
Turns around to see where the customer is pointing too.
Me: Ma’am that’s not the same shirt you have on. It’s a short sleeve version, but same pattern.
Customer: That’s fine
I walk over, grabbed a medium in the shirt and gave it to the customer. I walked out the fitting room and went around the store checking on all of my other customers. Less than a hour later I do another walk-thru of the fitting room and wouldn’t you know it, not only was the shirt I gave her thrown to the side but so was the other shirt she had originally tried on. I guess her friend decided to follow suit because her fitting room was just as bad, if not worse. 😤😠😒
The Rant
I legit for the life of me can not understand why it is so hard to hang stuff back up! Furthermore why the hell did you make me get you a shirt you CLEARLY had no intentions on buying? Like one shirt wasn’t enough for you to throw down, you needed two, and I guess your friend needed four. Same exact shirt just a different color. Hence, why my meter for zero patience has risen.
Customer #2
So of course since it was only two of us closing we had to alternate shifts at the register. Well, we had a line so I got on a register. Why did I do that? 🤦🏾♀️ Naturally in our store we greet the customer, ask how the shopping experience was, then we get either their phone number or email address to pull up their rewards account. Let me walk you through how annoying some customers can be.
The Conversation
Me: Hi, did you find everything ok?
Customer: Yes
Me: Can I get your phone number?
Customer: I don’t have one.
Me: You have one, you just don’t want to give it. Everyone has a phone number. 😒😡
The Rant
So you’re just gonna lie to me to my face? 🤔 Like it’s not 2019? Dude my eight year old cousin even has a phone number so quit with the s***s! That’s just like a customer telling me they don’t have a email! You’s a d*** LIE. How do you NOT have a email but you have that expensive ass smartphone??? Just be straight up! I can respect that more, if you don’t want to give me your phone number or email, just say “no thanks” and keep it moving. It’s not like it matters to me either way, I get paid regardless. 🤷🏾♀️ Needless to say I have zero patience for dumb s***.
Moral of the Story
Working too much gives you ZERO PATIENCE! So air on a side of caution and be more empathetic to the associates in retail. We are not your maid, and we definitely won’t be calling or emailing you.
