Instagram Hacks with Tailwind

If you have ever read any of my income reports then you know how much I am already in love with Tailwind. Well now they have just released a NEW feature! Now you can add your Instagram Hashtags to your first comment and I wait wait to show you how!

What is Tailwind?

Who doesn’t love to scroll through Instagram? Is it not THE easiest way to keep up with what’s going on and in a sense stay in touch with our friends and family? Well I think that Tailwind and Instagram are the newest force to be reckoned with. I mean these two are a match made in heaven. Some may ask what is Tailwind? Let me give you a quick rundown.

Tailwind is the smartest way to manage your presence across the visual web (Pinterest & Instagram). Tailwind is an official partner of both Pinterest and Instagram and offers a complete suite of marketing tools including Smart Scheduling, Analytics & Monitoring, Content Discovery, Promotion, and more. Now I want to make this VERY clear LOL I knew NOTHING about Tailwind until my Blogging Mentor who I now call my friend Morgan introduced this to me. I can be one of the MOST skeptical people when it comes to ANYTHING online, especially these days. Half the stuff on the interest can’t be trusted UNLESS it has been recommended from someone that you know and trust.

So let’s just nip this in the bud. If you have read any of my work you know I’m going to keep it 1,000 with you. Let me get through all these Tailwind rumors out there in the universe.

1. Tailwind is NOT the reason why your engagement and/or views are down ladies and gentlemen. (All Tailwind is doing is LEGIT scheduling your post and/or pins. Tailwind has no control over the engagement aspect of your social media)
2. Tailwind IS FREE but it does come on a trial basis. (The trial is based on 100 scheduled Pins or 30 scheduled Instagram Posts) If you want to take full advantage of the amazing-ness of Tailwind you will have to spend a little coin (aka money, people nothing in life is FREE, if you want to take your business to the next level you have to invest).
3. Tailwind does NOT affect your algorithms of neither Instagram nor Pinterest. (I’ll let you in on a little secret, Tailwind is promoted by both Instagram and Pinterest. It’s one of the safest apps to use between both social media platforms.)
4. Timing on Post/Pins does matter, it’s all about time zones. (I can’t fight this point, but what I can do is give you my facts! Ever since I started using Tailwind my likes and engagement have went up noticeably. I have found that their time scheduler does allow me to get way more views on Instagram and takes away so much stress from manually pinning on Instagram and Pinterest).

Instagram and the Infamous Hashtags

As you know, just like any and every social media platform out there right now, Instagram is always evolving in hopes to keep up with the times. I mean they have to keep us engaged and wanting more right? 🤔 Well it has been a proven fact everywhere for some time now, that hashtags have always left a lot of question marks.

Do you use all 30 hashtags? Or do you use 10? Which hashtags are banned and which ones are OK to post? Which hashtags are trending right now and what are the odds that my post will be seen by my peers if I post my picture right now? I’m sure we have all had these questions before if not more.

Well that is why all the bosses in the game use Tailwind. Although the hashtag count will always change with the times, I have heard that the safe number to use right now is 9. Now that’s not to say that 30 is no longer the magic number, 9 just happens to be trending right now in the Instagram hashtag world. Maybe it’s because it looks cleaner or it could just be a test. Why Post Instagram Hashtags to your First Comment?

Now I’m sure a lot of you are asking why should I post my hashtags in the first comment? Why not stick with what’s been working for me? Well I’m not telling you to change when clearly you’re already succeeding. What I’m asking you to do it to try it out. See how this works for you. You never know rather or not you’re going to like something until you actually do it. You might actually like the way your post will look with the new format.

How to Post Your Instagram Hashtags in your First Comment with Tailwind

1. So First things first, you have to launch the Tailwind app and go to your Instagram publisher.
2. Upload your images (The great thing about Tailwind is you can upload as many images as you want all at one time)
3. Click to start creating a Hashtag list or choose from frequently used hashtags
4. Check the box that says Post Hashtag in First Comment
5. Click Add to Queue to automatically schedule your post for the best time.

(Please note that the following video is BEFORE the new update so you will not see the check box for Post Hashtags in First Comment. This video is more so to show you in live view how the app will look when you start using it.)

How to Post Your Instagram Hashtags in your First Caption with Tailwind

Time to learn how to put your hashtags in your first caption on Instagram via Tailwind.

From Tailwind’s Instagram publisher, create a “Hashtag” list. This will not only keep you hashtags in place but it will also help with the format on Instagram. We want to make sure it looks good right?

1. In the Tailwind Instagram Publisher, click on the “#” button
2. Now click the  “+” button. Which is basically the list you create for different hashtags for different post.
3. Add line breaks and characters, symbols, or emojis on each line. In your hashtag list. I personally do periods or asterisks, each on their own lines. (This is to move your hashtags so they are no longer in view on your post).

Here is an example for my more visual learners like myself!

So, first compose your caption in any note system that you have like Notes, Keep Notes, Evernote, or even better- in Tailwind! Then just copy and paste in your caption and formatting, and then use Hashtag Finder to find the best hashtags for your Instagram post. Simple as that!

You Still Have To Put In Work

Now I know I have raved about all the benefits of Tailwind this whole post but I want to make it very clear that Tailwind is not a “get rich quick scheme”. In other words it will not automatically make your engagement go up on Instagram nor will it do it for Pinterest. You still have to post randomly on your own with Instagram as well as pin manually with Pinterest.

Just like most social media sites they want you to organically engage with your peers. Post something that literally just happened to your feed, create an Instagram story about something that was memorable to you or better yet a thought or a point that you just have to get across. Instagram LOVES that kind of stuff and they reward it. Pinterest just want you to be consistent. Definitely pin using Tailwind but also pin manually. Doing both is seen across the board to all that monitor Pinterest and you get rewarded by having hundreds and thousands of people view your stuff every time you pin something.
