This Is Not Your House
I’m back at it again ladies and gentlemen. This time with a rant on “This is not your House“. I mean how many times have you went shopping anywhere and saw disgusting stuff placed in unsuspected places?
When You Shop
This has happened to me numerous times, mostly in bigger stores like Target when I’m looking at home decor stuff and out the corner of my eye I see a bag of oranges. We all know there is absolutely no reason for oranges to be in the home decor section when produce is all the way on the other side of the store.
Now don’t get me wrong, I too have been that person to put back stuff in inconspicuous places. Especially when I’m almost done shopping and I look down at my cart and I got about $200 over what I actually came in there to spend. So yes I get it, we’re human it happens. Especially at the register when your total starts hitting those scary digits. I’ll have you know I have been known to put back stuff at the register. But if it’s produce I’ll put it back where it belongs, why should I have something spoil because I decided at the last minute that I didn’t want it?

In Retail
Well the same theory applies in retail. I can not count how many times especially on the weekend I walk around the store and see massive amounts of Starbucks cup, sodas, water bottles, just placed all throughout the store in the craziest places. You know the places that make you shake your head and ask WHY? And who could forget the trail of popcorn spilled all over the floor. Now last time I checked this was not your house.
There is absolutely no reason why I have to add janitor to my job title because you don’t feel like picking up after yourself, better yet your child or children. Granted some people are absent minded. But I mean really who forgets STARBUCKS?? I will never forget a Starbucks drink in ANY store after I paid $10 for it. Then again everyone does not have my salary. (So I refrain…Carry on).
Checkout A Person’s Behavior
Want to know how a person REALLY lives? Go shopping with them! Look at there mannerism. This will give you an idea of how they live at home. Just peep (aka look at) how they go through the store in search of items. Is it pure chaos?
I have legit watched a group of friends shop in the store. One customer actually asked for a shopping bag the other one not so much. One of the ladies was very strategic about the things she picked up in the store, her friend on the other hand ran through racks like a bat outta hell. She is what we call a tornado.
You can literally walk through the store and point out everything she has touched. That’s how reckless some customers are when they go shopping. Those are the one’s who have the mentality that “Oh they need something to do” so they go around the store with a purpose of messing s*** up.
Thoughts?
It cracks me up when people think that retail is EASY and therefore they need to give us something to do. How would you like it if we came to your place of work and ransacked the whole place all in the light of “you need something to do”? How would you feel?
Moral of the story….
This retail store is NOT your house. Do us a favor and treat this store how you would treat your bosses house, with the upmost respect. And most of all CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! There was a crazy invention called a trashcan…use it!

Ahh I definitely appreciated your rant, especially as someone who has worked as a waitress…although I’ve never worked retail, I’ve come in contact with a ton of people that just think they can do whatever they please. Like you said, this is not your house or your dining room table…so have some respect! lol! I think it just comes down to a lack of manners & doing the right thing!

I have seen many in malls and stores picking up clothes , trying and leaving them on chair or on floors in trial rooms. I wonder would they do this things at their home then why messing up some one’s hard work. I am very mindful of placing the things back to its place in proper way as it was earlier. Good point you raised here in this blog post.

It’s crazy right? OMG! It urkes my nerves. Especially when I see food left in the fitting room’s. You definitely made a good point about other kids possibly drinking it. Smh. Thanks so much for sharing & reading! 😁

I can relate with it. Every time I went shopping and find something out of place I needed to bring it back to its correct place. But I have changed a bit in this habit, specially if I am coming with my toddler who needs my whole attention 😀

I am METICULOUS when I shop. I fold stuff back, put things back with the right size in the right place, make sure the hangar is going the uniform way the other pieces are…. I went shopping with a friend a few years back… almost left her in the damn store! Tossing stuff where it doesn’t belong, unfolding crap she KNOWS she won’t fit in…. girl even cleaned out her purse while she was waiting on me to try on an outfit… left her trash on the chair.
I was appalled!
I can’t imagine the stuff you see!
