Wire Hanger

Did you miss me? I mean, did you miss everything about me and how good this rant is about to be? You know what the best thing about writing these rants every other week is? The juicy gossip that I get to give you get’s juicer. Thanks for coming back and indulging is this weeks Retail Rant on the Wire Hanger.

Now this is a term “Wire Hanger” I got from one of the Medea’s movies I believe it was called Diary of a Mad Black Woman. If you haven’t seen it I suggest you take a look. It will make this post hysterical, trust me.

Questions for You

Have you ever walked into a fitting room that looked absolutely disgusting? Or better yet asked an associate for a fitting room, they tell you that they are open and then once you strategically pick a room it’s full of clothes another customer tried on? OK, now another question for you, how did it make you feel walking into that?

Did you just shut the door and say “oh well” and continue your journey of trying on the items you picked out? Stepping over the clothes that were already in there, or did you run out and into a more clean fitting room? Better yet, did you ask the associate who advised you to go right in to clean out the room you picked that was filled with clothes?

These are just some questions to get your mind ready for the rant I’m about to give you. And per usual I can’t make this stuff up ladies and gentlemen. I can literally show you better than I can tell you. So the rant goes a little something like this….

My Shift

Whenever I start my shift I have a habit of looking in the fitting room to see what disaster was left behind from my lovely associates before me that should have been taken care of prior to them leaving their shift. But that’s neither here nor there, I usually check to see how bad the “go backs” (clothes that need to be put away from the fitting room) are so I can mentality prepare my mind, body and soul.

Well per usual the go backs looked like they hadn’t been touched all day, “lucky me”. So naturally my manager sends me to man the fitting room at the start of my shift, because she already knew they were a complete hot mess.

Not only do I have to deal with a pile of clothes that need to be put back on hangers but I also have to open each stall and make sure none of our amazing customers left anything in there. Well for some reason today was let’s go shopping day so almost all my fitting rooms were full, therefore I couldn’t check to see what kind of shape they were in.

My Shift Continued…

Well as I was getting the go backs together I saw this lady going in and out the fitting room. Clearly she had been in there a while. Then she asked me for my opinion on how the jumpsuit fit her. I told her she looks fine because she legit did. But you know us women, although you have gained the approval of someone else you still have to feel confident in what you are wearing. So I pointed her in the direction of a brand new jumpsuit that wasn’t even displayed on the floor yet. She took it and went right back into the fitting room.

About 15 minutes later she comes out twirls around in the jumpsuit for her boyfriend to see and then said she didn’t like it. This poor man could’ve cared less what his girlfriend had on at this point, the man looked so uninterested. I felt for the guy, you could clearly see he had been in a million stores already just by the bags he was holding. Then on top of that he has to stand in our store for what looked to be at least another 30 minutes to watch his girlfriend not buy any clothes.

Full Disclaimer

Ladies if you decide to take your man, husband, boyfriend, significant other, baby daddy, father of your kids, hell even your son’s be considerate of the amount of time you spend in each store. They may love you to death but there is not enough seats in a store for them to care to make any decisions on what does and does not look good on you.

First store you may or may not have their full attention, but by the 3rd or 4th store you DEFINITELY no longer have their attention. Ladies at this point in the game you might as well be Charlie Brown’s teacher because all he is hearing is “womp, womp, womp, womp, womp”.

This Includes You Fellas

To my fellas, if you are not prepared to go on the shopping adventures of your significant other, then do us all a favor and let her know. Put your foot down, because when you come in the store unconcerned your woman has to now turn to one of us for advice, and although we will give it, she is, in most cases buying these outfits for you, to look good for you and with you. I just had to get that off my chest, now back to the regularly programmed show.

On With It

Once miss thang left the fitting room I was able to check all the fitting rooms for my daily surprises, and ladies and gentlemen I definitely hit the jackpot today. There were clothes in almost all the stalls and to top it all off, that one lady that I mentioned to you earlier, well her stall was the absolute worst! Remember that new jumpsuit I got her that was not even on the floor yet to be shopped by other customers? Well look at what she decided to leave me behind. This is why my post is called the Wire Hanger.

The Rant

See this is why associates can’t have a great day at work. This is why we don’t greet you or want to help you in the fitting rooms because you treat us like 🤬. Like who lives like this? Do you really go home and live in these conditions? I don’t care what ANYONE’s say’s this is downright disrespectful! And trust me I know what some of you say “they need something to do.” Well let me fully explain to you why that is NOT the case! She as in me, have more than enough to do in this store and cleaning up after yo 🤬🤬 is not one of them. Now putting away clothes is one thing, BUT THIS, this is freaking ridiculous and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Remember earlier when I asked you about walking into a dirty fitting room and how you felt? Well imagine how we feel going in behind some of these ratchet customers and cleaning up their 🤬🤬. So the next time you enter a fitting room and it looks a hot mess remember this post.

Also remember that it is not the associates that are LAZY or don’t want to do their job, it’s the people that you may have held the door open for, or the person you’re standing behind in line that allowed you to enter that dirty fitting room not us. And it’s associates like me that get so fed up with it and sometimes need a break to vent while you mistakenly enter that one tornado of a room.

To the customers who shop in stores and are decent and kind to not only the store, but it’s merchandise AND the amazing associates who don’t get paid enough for some of the crap customers put us through, we THANK YOU. From the bottom of our hearts. You are legit the reason why we continue to come to work every day and don’t quit.

We laugh with you, we smile, and we help the hell out of you because we see and know that you get us. You get that our job may suck and we can’t always give you rainbow and sunshine treatment, but we still help you and we try to do it with a smile every single time. To those customer you are FREAKING AWESOME and we 💞LOVE YOU💞.

Moral of the Story

Put your clothes back on the hanger, be considerate of not only the associates that has to clean up behind you but of your fellow peers who also have to use the same fitting room as you. #disgusting
