I have legit been in my new house now for over a year and I am JUST now looking into decorating. Like all my friends and family tell me all the time, “you have 30 years to furnish your house“. Sounds good in theory and this may be true, but who really has the patience for all that?

Now considering I have worked my two jobs very intensively, I haven’t been able to shop for furniture, hell anything for that matter. But do you know what is just as good as shopping for furniture? Window shopping!! One of my Absolute favs!

Now we all know that this list could go on and on and on, but I’m going to stop here. To be honest, no one really sticks with one vibe or style in a room anymore. It’s all about mixing styles and ultimately making the vibes more YOU! So in essence there is no wrong way to decorate a room as long as you love it.

Let’s Take a Look at Some of These Vibes

How many of you are like me when it comes to choices? I absolutely LOVE choices, and at the same time can be a little indecisive. So I wanted to give you a few looks that you might have an appetite for.

Rustic Farmhouse Vibes

OMG! If you’re anything like me you LOVE yourself some HGTV! Well one of my favorite shows on there is Fixer Upper. I absolutely love me some Chip and Joanna Gaines. I hate that they are no longer airing any new seasons but they are THE epitome of Rustic Farmhouse Vibes.

Here are some looks to get you in the Farmhouse Vibe.

Contemporary Vibes

Moving onto a more Contemporary look. When I think about contemporary, I think classy, very adult. I love how it gives a space a minimalist look with a lot of functionality. Like I stated before you can ALWAYS mix different vibes. I mean who’s paying your mortgage/rent? Your house guest or YOU? 🤨

Glam Vibes

I absolutely love me a glam room. So why not have your entire living room in a Glam Vibe? Glam is that, I’m too pretty, don’t touch me room. 😂💁‍♀️ My two favorite colors in life are purple and rose gold, so let’s just say I am one with glam and glam is one with me.

Who said you can’t get the look without the hefty price? The secret to getting any perfect vibe is to have a little patience. Now let’s see what glam vibes I found that you might want to get. 😏

Shopping on a Budget

Now I know some of these vibes that I mentioned are a little on the high end. Sometimes quality can be a tad bit expensive, but I am and will forever be a bargain shopper. So if you liked these looks but need something on the more economical side I have a few places I’d like for you to check out that will have a similar look for half the price.

Economical Shops

  • At Home
  • Burlington
  • TJ Maxx
  • Home Goods
  • Marshalls
  • World Market
  • IKEA
  • Target
  • Walmart

Got to Have Patience

When you have champagne taste on a beer budget like myself , you have to have a lot of patience, when it comes to designing a room, better yet an entire house. When you look at shows like ‘The Real Housewives’ or the ‘Property Brothers’ and you look at all the amazing interior design and never seen before furniture it makes you want a room just like it. Right??

Well guess what? You can! You just have to realize what your budget is and stick with it. I Know my budget is damn near invisible so I HAVE to shop around. So I’m ALWAYS in places like Burlington, Marshall’s, At Home and Home Goods. Yes, I know that shopping in these places most times are hit or miss but you have to stick with your goal of finishing your room and when you find something amazing BUY it!

A Good way to look at Bargain Shopping

Don’t let a good find pass you buy. When you are bargain shopping there is no “I’ll sleep on it” hun. It’s more like now or never. As the saying goes “Here today gone tomorrow“.

Window Shopping at it’s BEST

So now that I have given you some vibes, I told you where you would most likely find a similar look. I want to take you on a little adventure I call window shopping. (This is where you go shopping to just LOOK and you spend absolutely no money!) I actually went into each store this week just to prove my point. You can mix different vibes in a room and you can also get the look for less.

Burlington

First up is Burlington, famously known as Burlington Coat Factory. Growing up I use to hate this store. Probably because as a child all I cared about was the toys and they didn’t have much of that back in the day. Now as an adult it’s my GO TO decor shop. (Secret Revealed 😜)

Like I stated earlier if you find something you love on these trips, you BUY them right away! Here are a few more finds that I just had to take a picture of. As you can see Burlington had some Beach Vibes, Boho, Contemporary and a few others.

I mean are we feeling these Glam Vibes or naw? Then you have some Rustic Farmhouse, some Shabby Chic. I mean guys, really? Burlington was lit this week. I could’ve bought everything you see here for half the price of one of those sectionals. Did I do good or what?

TJ Maxx

So I’m going to be real for a second. TJ maxx and I have a love hate relationship. Half the time I never find anything good and then when I do it’s so high I end up not getting it at all. I usually go to TJ maxx when I’m in need of bedding and/or bathroom stuff. Sometimes I win but most times I lose and I’m never happy about it. I must be a gluten for punishment because I keep going back.

I guess it’s good that I stop in periodically. I mean look at these beauties! I love them so much. What vibes are you feeling from Maxx? I’m getting some Farmhouse, Glam, and a little Contemporary vibes.

All in all not a bad trip at TJ Maxx they did a little better than usual. Would you have taken any of these finds to the register? Remember, here today gone tomorrow. Nothing worse than buyers remorse!

World Market

I whole heartily consider World Market a diamond in the ruff. I’m not going to lie, half the time I even forget about it when I’m searching for amazing finds and ladies and gentlemen they have some great stuff here. I mean look at some of the things I found just walking through the store this week.

I am fully attracted to ANYTHING gold so let’s just say World Market gave me LIFE. Do you see anything you would like to take home with you? I legit had to compose myself from that gold leaf! I kept thinking to myself “where can I put you? I NEED you, you are too freaking cute to put back.” I stood my ground if you were wondering. I left that bad boy right there!

OK, by now you know the drill. What vibes are we getting from World Market? I defiantly get some Rustic Farmhouse vibes, Boho, Glam, Shabby Chic, and Contemporary. Did I miss anything? Are you having fun?

At Home

For most part At Home is tooooo overwhelming for most. For me, it’s my home away from home, like literally. Let me give you a little history on myself, and y’all don’t try and age me!

Back in the day At Home was once called Garden Ridge, and I will have you know, that was my very first job! At the rip age of 15 you could see me in Greensboro, NC right off of Wendover, placing back items that customers didn’t want and ringing up massive items for customers. You couldn’t tell me NOTHING.

I had just gotten my very first car and now I was employed. Ahhh the good ol’ days, when I had no care in the world. My only responsibility was putting gas in my car. I need to know who tricked me into growing up? This adulting is not what I call fun. Now back to decor!

Now don’t get me wrong, there were a million different decor items I could’ve snatched up, and even more pictures that I could’ve taken but honestly guys, these pictures do these items no justice. I recommend you stopping into your nearest At Home and walking through every isle (while you’re broke) so that way window shopping is mandatory and you spend NO money.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. At Home will get you right! Prices are definitely reasonable and guess what? They have more than one or two items of the same thing (usually) so you don’t have to worry too much about something not being there when you decide to come back.

Per usual, I must ask, what kind of vibes are we getting here? Now keep in mind, I didn’t walk half way through the store, if I did you wouldn’t be able to read this amazing post.

So of course I’m getting Beach, Rustic Farmhouse, Glam, Contemporary, and Shabby Chic vibes. But trust me you can find all the vibes I listed earlier in this store. Did you see anything you would like to take home with you?

Tips

After all this shopping I want to give you a few tips to take with you. When you are decorating any room always start with your statement piece first. For insistence my statement piece for my living room will be my couch (which I have ordered and should be on it’s way this week!!)

Dollar Tree

Mood Boards

Mood boards are a great way for you to find a vibe if you’re unsure of what you’re looking for. A Mood Board is an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept.

They look a little like this…

So you basically take all the pieces you like, colors, furniture, decor ideas and place it all on one board and you work from there. I created these two to show you what Glam and Farmhouse vibes would look like for me. You can definitely do the same for any room in your house.

Statement Pieces

When finding your statement piece you want to make sure that it’s an eye catching item. It could be anything from artwork, mirrors, couch, carpet, accent wall, or it can even be a light fixture.

You will want to pick this item first so you can build around it. My couch is my statement piece so I won’t buy anything until it comes in because I want everything to be cohesive with pops of color here and there based around my couch.

Mix Things Up

As you can see a lot of the vibes I described earlier can go together very nicely. So don’t think because your doing a modern look that you can’t do something contemporary with it as well. It is OK to mix things up. Show your style, show some diversity, and most of all show YOUR personality.

Just Have Fun

Never make decorating feel like a job or a choir. Decorating should really feel like a sin. Like nothing should feel this good! If you have ideas and feel like none of them really go together, you could either A. find your fashion forward friend who loves decor and have an eye for similar things you like, and make a day out of it and just go window shopping. Or B. You could hire someone to take all the hard work out of it.

If you do decide to hire someone definitely stick with my tip and have your statement piece for them to go off of from the very beginning. If you’re feeling a certain vibe then have pictures ready for them to go off of or simply do a mood board. Pinterest will be your VERY best friend when it comes to finding exactly what you like.

Remember I am here for you. Any and every question that you have along the way, I’m just an email away. If you stay in the Charlotte, NC or surrounding areas we might even be able to meet up. Good luck on your shopping adventures. I’m sure you’ll do great! Until next time….
