Retail Rants

Fit Verses Print

I am back at it again with my weekly retail rant. This week I want to discuss something that happened to me at work literally yesterday.

I am doing “go backs” which is essentially cleaning out the fitting room. As I was putting clothes back on the hanger a customer opened her fitting room door. I asked her if everything worked out for her and she said no.

Here is how the conversation continued:

Me: “Awww I’m sorry, what didn’t work?”

Customer: “Well this large button up was just too tight around the chest area so I think I’m going to try on an extra large.”

She proceeds to hand me all her items that she tried on. Five unbuttoned, button ups. I smiled turned around rolled my eyes and proceeded to button up the first shirt. The customer then comes back into the fitting room with five more shirts (assuming extra large this time).

Fifteenth minutes later the customer emerges out of the fitting room.

Me: “Did those work for you?”

Customer: “Nooo now the shirt is too big now, it’s so loose around my stomach area but’s my chest ok, but Thank you!”

Me: “Oh you need something in between a large and a extra large, I see. Well have a good one.”

The customer naturally hands me the other five unbutton shirts with a smile. Just as I was finishing up with the last five she gave me. I turn back around and start to button the other shirts back up.

Hold One Second

I want to make a point now before I carry on. Ladies and gentlemen I promise you that the print nor the color changes the size or the fit of the garment you choose to try on. If you pick up five button ups one with flowers, the other one has stripes, the next on is neon pink, the other one has dots and the last one is a solid white color. There is absolutely NO WAY any of those Large Shirts will fit you any different then the first shirt you tried on.

Someone PLEASE tell me the logic is trying on 50 different prints of the same top, same size and then leaving the fitting room with just one top, better yet NONE. To top that off they are all unbutton, thrown all over the fitting room. Where is the logic in that?

Now as I am buttoning back up the shirt I noticed something on the tag. It said SLIM FIT. I am in no way trying to talk bad about this customer but hun-tey the shirts weren’t fitting because they were not your size! By time I realized the issue the customer was already gone.

Men Do It Too

You have no idea how many men come into the store and rip open perfectly folded shirts because they want to see it on. (Mind you we tell them we have try-on shirts) .They go into the fitting room, try on the shirt they opened and then have the audacity to leave the shirt they tried on in the fitting room to then walk out and grab a perfectly folded shirt off the wall.

Once again I need to know the logic? Ladies and gentlemen I could go on and on about this topic but you get my point. Let the sales associate help you, help yourself.

Moral of the Story: The print of the clothing item will NOT change the fit. A Large, is a large, is a large. It doesn’t change fits because it has a floral print verses dots. And I know some people when say they need to see the item on to know if it will work for them.

$5 off $55 / $8 off $70 / $13 off $90

Hey, that very well may be true, but if you try one on and hold the other 12 up to you in the mirror I’m sure you will get an idea of how it’s going to look. Men this goes for you as well. The dress shirt will not change sizes because you want this black shirt instead of blue.

OK, now I’m done for real…..Enjoy the rest of your week!

I about died out laughing when I read this, girl!!!! Freaking RIOT!

My grandma always wants to dress me in what she thinks looks ‘nice’. So we go into a store, she picks out an XL dress with fricken ruffles and hot pink polka dots.

Obviously, not my thang…. at all. Put me in some boots and flannel.

Anyways, I always go try it on and she’s like ‘hmm… something just doesn’t click with this outfit’.

Well, lets see, lady… you got me MOO MOO the size of a pool tarp!

She’s also the one that tries on a shirt in very unflattering horizontal stripes in gold…. then goes and trades it out for the same horrid striped shirt…. in marigold yellow…. then is shocked that it isn’t flattering….

    Ugh.

Like I’ve said before, you have the patience of a Goddess!

I never got that logic of trying on the the same shirt in different colors. But The fit of them like slim fit, skinny fit or loose fit does make a difference. Im sure that was missed by the customer as well. I’m more impressed that she handed you the shirts and she didn’t leave em in the fitting room thrown around. Granted, it was unbuttoned but I rather that then a fitting full of just tried on clothes… UGH! Men are just as trifling!!! Lol

You know what Glen you absolutely have a point. If the fits are different please have at it! But its when the fit is the same AND you just changed the print or color is when I REALLY have a problem. Now don’t get me wrong, I too was impressed with her handing me her items but I shirt would have done the job. But hey I just work there! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my post 😊
