Why I Chose a Photoblog

First things first! Can I let out a small scream?! This is my VERY first blog post EVER! This post is going to put me on the map of being an official blogger! Ahhh that even looks good on the computer screen. Ok, ok, now to the reason why you’re REALLY here!

Have you ever went to someone’s blog and although they have amazing content it was just B-O-R-I-N-G? I mean visually boring? Yeah, me too, I probably spent a good sixty seconds of scrolling before I realized there is nothing on this page that will make me stay. Which is why I decided when I started my blogging career I wanted it to be a photoblog. Before I explain Why I Chose a Photoblog I want to give you the definition of what it actually is.

What is a Photoblog

A photoblog (or photolog) is a form of photo sharing and publishing in the format of a blog. It differs from a blog through the predominant use of and focus on photographs rather than text.

Now that we have the definition out the way, I can move on to the more important part WHY

Why I Chose a Photoblog

My original thought process was around my Instagram account. I started my business Instagram so I could showcase my personal shopping and interior design extravaganzas while obtaining more business. While trying to be proactive in my posting methods, I gained the attention The Great North. They commented on a picture I posted on my Instagram profile & suggested that I would be a great fit for their company as a Brand Ambassador.

If you’re a visual person like me then this will be your new favorite site. So you might as will bookmark this site now because its only gonna get better from here.

What is a Brand Ambassador

Well how can you honestly get excited about something you might not know anything about? I’m going to fix that now.

A brand ambassador is a person who is hired by an organization or company to represent a brand in a positive light and by doing so help to increase brand awareness and sales. The brand ambassador is meant to embody the corporate identity in appearance, demeanor, values and ethics. Wikipedia

So My Journey Started…

Now I knew being a Brand Ambassador was a thing, but I had no idea it was about to be MY thing. Needless to say I did it! I did my very 1st Brand Ambassador gig with The Great North. I loved what they stood for, organic clothing, based in Canada & most importantly a company that actually gives back to the environment and animals. How could I say no?

Did Someone Say Brand Ambassador?

Let’s fast forward to now, where I am a Brand Ambassador for the following companies:
The Great North
Abella Eyewear
Abella Beach
Hot Miami Shades
Chic NYC
Rox Jewelry
Laylow Apparel
Allure Stylez
Just to name a few….

I list these companies because I stand behind them. But I do want to note that some of these companies do not ship from the US so it takes a little longer but they make that clear on their website, which I respect.

Now that I had represented all these companies I had one huge dilemma, Instagram. Instagram currently only allows one website per page. Which means if I wanted to wear multiple brands in one post (ie. Sunglasses, shirt, and cup) the other two companies would have to take a backseat. Which in my opinion wasn’t fair.

What They Don’t Tell You About Instagram

I did find a workaround eventually using link tree. They allowed me to have as many companies as I wanted under one website link. But as I was doing research I realized that Instagram is like renting an apartment. You could live there as long as you wanted but you would never own it. Instagram is the exact same way. You could build an amazing page with great content and a huge following of a million or more, and if the owner of Instagram decided that they wanted to shut the whole thing down everything you worked so hard for would be gone in a blink of an eye.

Not only could they wipe away all of your hard work, but they can take & use any of the content you posted on their app. Which brought me to the realization that I needed to branch out and make a name for myself on my own platform.

Made My Next Move My BEST Move

I knew from the VERY beginning that branching out would have the look & feel of a blog. But I in no way, I repeat NO WAY could consider myself a blogger. I commend those amazingly inspiring men and women who take the time to blog like a boss. Personally I just knew that would not be the road I traveled.

For the most part I really just wanted to showcase my style and Interior designs without being nervous about my content disappearing on a platform that was not owned by me. Sooo how do you accomplish that goal? Start a blog, or in my case a Photoblog. Don’t get it twisted, I will be writing post here and there (ie. Like this post) I just don’t want my blog confused with everyone else’s. I think a photoblog is the best of both worlds. You get beautiful pictures with great content. 👏🏾👏🏾🥂
